My husband and I took the family education program and we learned a lot about mental illness. We are better able to manage our expectations around our loved one and feel better equipped to handle any crisis that comes our way

I moved to Nanaimo last year with my two adult disabled sons. Both are afflicted with severe and persistent Schizophrenia. My eldest son had been institutionalized in Manitoba for most of his adult life. Mental Health Recovery Partners Society-Central VI has provided me with much needed practical and emotional help and advice. I have benefited from the Family Support Group meetings now held via Zoom, and appreciate the fellowship and support provided by the leaders and other caregivers. In turn, this helps me better support my sons in their recovery journey.
