Mental Health Navigation Seminar

Mental Health Navigation Seminar

Mental health navigation can be incredibly difficult! The mix of privacy, medications, multiple forms of intake and the many support teams available can be hard to get your head around. We’re here to help you navigate, and bringing two experts in to share their experience and advice with you.

Feeling lost in the maze of mental health services? This seminar aimed to be your compass, equipping attendees with the knowledge and tools to understand the complexities of the mental health navigation. Hosted by two practitioners from within Nanaimo’s Mental Health and Substance Use system, they’ll be your guide to better understanding the system, and how to push through roadblocks you may be encountering.

We want you to better understand the landscape in Nanaimo. You’ll walk away with a better understanding of the different types of mental health and substance use services available in Nanaimo, from counseling to case management. If you’re looking for deeper knowledge on treatments, medications, and more, we’d suggest you take a look at our family-to-family course.

Let’s demystify the process. Accessing services can be a huge barrier for family caregivers, and clients alike. How do you move through an initial assessment, find the right avenue for care, and then see the treatment plan through?

Opening doors for specific challenges. While privacy law does not allow for discussion around a specific individual, our two guides are well equipped to help you understand the barriers that practitioners face in caring for clients, and how you as a family member can help the system offer the highest level of care possible.

You’ll walk away with resources and support. We believe there is hope and support for all, and will work with you to get you the resources you need to thrive in times of crisis, advocating strongly and effectively for your loved one, and navigating the system like a pro.

Beyond the knowledge transfer:

We welcome you into a community of hope, connecting individuals facing similar challenges and promoting open dialogue about mental health. We’re with you every step of the mental illness journey, helping to empower and inform you on next steps to care for your loved one.

Remember, you are not alone! Utilize the resources provided, reach out for support, and remember that navigating the mental health system is a process, but one you can navigate successfully.
